Applications of Narrative Coaching WORKSHOP

This advanced five-day workshop is open to coaches and others who have been through our Foundations course. It is the stepping stone to the certification process.

The focus of this workshop will be on learning in greater depth the coaching techniques essential to working with client stories. I will draw on my research and work with narrative fields, the rich “third spaces” that are created between coaches, clients, and their stories in sessions. I will also teach extensively on the rites of passage frame for guiding clients in making the changes they seek. Participants will learn a lot about their own narrative patterns as coaches and can use the workshop to make shifts in their own identity stories as a platform for more powerfully serving their clients. Participants will also learn the roles and responsibilities of working at the narrative level.

You will learn:

  • How to listen to stories with a greater understanding of their structure
  • How to professionally attend to the dynamics that emerge in the narrative field
  • How to draw on the past, present and future in working with stories
  • How to track and support clients using the rites of passage frame
  • How to map what is happening in a narrative coaching session
  • How to engage clients in continuing the work outside of their sessions
  • How to monitor your own narrative patterns and use this awareness selectively
  • How to work within the roles and responsibilities of narrative coaching
